FRENCH ARTIST

     Exhibition " Le Japon vécu " at Meiji University Museum on 5-25 June 2009. This exhibiton was mainly organized with the Christian POLAK Collection, centered on the French illustrator and topical cartoonist, Georges BIGOT ( 1860-1927 ). Bigot arrived in Japan in 1882. After working as illustrator for some Japanese newspaper, he started his own cartoon magazine, Tobae, in which he presented his satirical caricatures on current events and Japanese politics, customs and every day life. Bigot published also till his departure to France in 1899, many albums of etchings and magazines.
